In my twenty-five years as a Master Gardener, I have been both a volunteer and an employee of UADA Cooperative Extension. At the beginning of this year, I was encouraged to take on a leadership role as editor of the Magnolia Chronicle and frankly I was terrified! If you only knew how spell check works overtime for me.
As a county extension agent, my appointment is to extend research-based information for the community in informal settings. I primarily teach nutrition and cooking concepts to kids and adults. Through the federally grant funded program called SNAP-Ed, I have watched kids and adults alike learn to accept unfamiliar foods while learning how to grow their own foods and prepare healthy meals. For me, this work is very fulfilling.
In December, my time as editor will end. I was given permission to take on this role transitionally and approved a limited amount of work time needed each month to compile our newsletter. This is where you come in…. a new editor is needed.
Our organization runs on the effort of volunteers. The time you give our community matters. Your expertise enriches our volunteer experience. It is truly a privilege to serve with you!
