Old Mill Garden Reception

On September 21, 2023, the Old Mill Master Gardeners helped the Friends of the Old Mill (FOM) host a public Garden Reception at the Old Mill.  FOM is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving and maintaining the integrity and beauty of the Old Mill, working with the North Little Rock Parks & Recreation Department and the Master Gardeners (and several MGs are also members of FOM).  FOM raises funds for park improvements and provides volunteers for tours and any assistance needed.

At the Reception, FOM provided refreshments and local musicians serenaded the attendees.  The Old Mill Master Gardeners were on hand to talk about the plants at the Old Mill, including those in the newly finished beds beside the restored waterfall, which were funded by grants received by FOM.  The Master Gardeners are focusing on pollinator and native plants in those beds and have already achieved certification of the beds as a Monarch Waystation.  The Master Gardeners provided several Rose of Sharon seedlings as door prizes and gave away cleome seeds, which were much appreciated because of the beautiful show the cleome plants were providing near the Mill.
