St. Joseph’s Pollinator Garden: June 30, 2023

St. Joseph’s pollinator master gardeners have been hard at work meeting every week to bring the garden back into a well-manicured area for the general community to enjoy. We have been battling all kinds of invasives, and I am in awe of the small growing team that is dedicated to this project. The storm last week took a major hit at St. Josephs with damage to the garden. Invasive honey suckle was ripped out and trellises were lifted out and snapped. We lost brown thrasher nests buried in our foliage which made us very sad as their mommas were crying out to us. Even though all our livestock on property were accounted for, it’s the pollinators that sometimes get forgotten. It was a hot day yesterday and our crew were out at 0700 helping pick up the pieces, creating supports for many fallen native tall plants and moving forward with our goals.

Shown below are a few photos of our ongoing work.

Sincerely,
Ruth Landers
