PCMG Notes: 2021-03-01

My first daffodil. And by the way, weeding is really easy now😁.

Hopefully by now you have recovered from the snow storms, even though our gardens haven’t. As you know, the best we can do is take a wait and see before we do anything drastic. While there is still winter left and I have seen snow as late as mid April, I hope those verrry cold temps are done.

There will be pretty days ahead. Time to cut back our roses and start cleaning up those flowerbeds. Fertilize the pansies and violas. They will probably perk up in a few days.

For those of you who are working on your projects , you are no longer limited to 5 pictures. Send you project pics to Paul Nolte at pan72501@gmail.com and he will post them to our armgs.org website.

Vaccines for covid are becoming much more available now. Please get vaccinated. The sooner we do, the sooner we can get together in person. I for one am craving that.

We will meet again by zoom on March 16. Keep an eye out on who the speaker will be. In the meantime, stay well and Happy Gardening.

Maumelle Communtiy Center – 2021-02-24

Maumelle Master Gardeners were finally able to work on our Community Center Project on February 24, 2021. The past few weeks all of our gardens have been covered with snow and ice so we were excited to work in the gardens. Many of the plants showed damage from the weather, so we were careful only to clip the dead stems. Many of the pictures are before we started working.

Happy Gardening!!

Maumelle Community Center: 2020-11-09

Maumelle Master Gardeners work day Monday November 9,2020, on our Maumelle Community Center project.  We missed our last work day due to early voting being held at our location, so our pansies were finally planted.  Plants needing pruning were clipped and other spent blooms were removed. Saw many butterflies and bees enjoying our flowers.

All rules were followed concerning Covid-19.

Happy Gardening!!

Sherwood Senior Center: 2020-11-06

Out with old summer flowers and in with the new fall flowers.

Members of the Sherwood Senior Citizen Center master gardening group planted new fall and winter flowers on a beautiful warm day, Friday, November 6, 2020.  Tulip, hyacinths, and allium bulbs were planted first for the start of next Spring with pansies, chard, snapdragons, cabbage and dusty miller added on top of the bulbs in the front gardens and pots for new fall color now.  Carol R. escaped being photographed because she was the taking the photos.

We will get her next time when the gardens grow a bit and fill in the next few of weeks.

We had a good zoom meeting on Tuesday with Jennifer Gibson from The Good Earth as our speaker. She had some good thoughts on plants we don’t always think of. You can view the meeting if you wish.

Don’t forget to send your check for “ the gift”. Send to Susan Stewart, 1440 Rockwater, NLR 72214.

As we see the numbers of Arkansans infected by the corona virus, we must continue to be vigilant. I know there is a lot of corona fatigue out there, but if we let our guard down it will only get worse. So many of us are grappling with how to celebrate the holidays. There is no question that this will be a difficult holiday season. Follow the guidelines and make good decisions.

Also, Election Day is just a few days away.
This is an important election.  Please let your voice be heard. VOTE.

Happy Gardening!  STAY WELL.
